The Hat, Hat, Hooray! Competition will help Bosom Buddies raise funds for their work providing support to wormen, their family and friends, going throught the breast cancer journey in the ACT Region.  Get involved, make a hat, a beret, beanie, cloche or any interesting head covering, and enter it in one of three categories:

         Happy / humorous/whimsical    OR    Sporty / smart casual    OR    Fashion

Your creation can be crocheted, knitted, felted, sewn or woven - but must be comfortable to wear (in consideration of those who  have lost their hair), for summer or winter wear, and any colour, but must have a Bosom Buddies cyclamen-pink patch at least 2cm x 2cm somewhere - either inside or outside of the work.  There is a fee of $5 for each entry, and you can submit up to three items in any category, but you need to fill out a separate entry form for each one.  Entries close on 11 October 2010.

All items will be judged and the best will be awarded prizes.  The three eminent judges will be: Cynthia Bryson, one of the best Canberra milliners who teaches and is the Governor General's milliner, Penny Boyer, Head of Photography, Design and Fashion at the CIT, and Sue Owen, manager of HeadsUp.

How to enter

Download the entry form and terms and conditions, let us know how many entries you will be submitting by emailing or phoning our office by 30 September 2010, then post or deliver your creation to Bosom Buddies’ office by 11 October 2010 with the following: a completed entry form for each entry, payment of $5 for each entry, and an identification swing tag attached to your creation with strong yarn with your name, phone number, title of work, fibre used and category.  You also need to tell us if you want to keep your creation or donate it to Bosom Buddies.  We will then use them for fundraising or give them to HeadsUp (HeadsUp at Calvary Hospital is a service that provides wigs and headwear to those who have lost their hair during cancer treatment.)

If you want to keep your creation: If you want to keep your work rather than donate it, you will be able to pick up your work from the Bosom Buddies office after 25 October 2010. Any item left after 15 November will be used for fundraising or given to HeadsUp.
