Each year the Bosom Buddies volunteers seek to provide assistance to those who are undergoing breast cancer treatment. They also are busy advocating for better services and spreading the early detection message as well as fundraising.
To list all the achievements in all these fields of endeavour would be too great. Some of our achievements this year are listed below.
Bosom Buddies receives recognition for the support it provides
In May 2013 the Bosom Buddies Hospital Visiting and Support Team was awarded the ACT Volunteer of the Year Award in the Community Care and Health Category. This well-deserved achievement was awarded in recognition of the support the team provides to those who are undergoing Breast Cancer treatment.
Starting from a team of 6 volunteers to the current team of 14, the Bosom Buddies Hospital Visiting & Support Team has been working together for over 6 years. The Team works closely with the Specialist Breast Care Nurses based at Calvary Hospital Bruce and are accredited volunteers at the three major hospitals in the ACT.
It is appropriate that their work has now been formally recognised by this Award. Senator Kate Lundy also congratulated the team with the following letter.
