Fellowship Grants

Bosom Buddies established a fellowship in 2006 and the Committee of Bosom Buddies Inc allocates monies to the fellowship from donations and fundraising.

Purpose

The Bosom Buddies Fellowship aims to provide funding, in a number of categories, to improve ongoing access to information, support and services related to Breast Cancer in the ACT, and to help selected individuals journeying through breast cancer.

Selection Committee

A selection committee meets four times a year to review applications and award the fellowships.

2007 Funds Granted

During 2007 the Fellowship awarded $9765.00 to:

Breast Nurse education;
Providing Breast Forms to those in need;
Pilot program for Breast screen to target newly diagnosed women; and
Providing resources to update the Breast Cancer Treatment Group data base for our region. For 12 years, this data base has been the leading data collection point in Australia on Breast Cancer treatment.

As our work has become increasingly recognised in the ACT and Region, we have begun to receive major sponsorships. We are building the Bosom Buddies Fellowship to manage our projects and donations to ensure appropriate and effective management of these sponsorships.

The Tradesmen's Union Club

Bosom Buddies are proud and appreciative to receive from the Canberra Tradesmen's Union Club a three-year grant of $15,000 per year to support the work of Breast Care Nurses.

The Canberra City Rotary Club

The Canberra City Rotary Club conducts a well-known Antiques Fair at the Albert Hall twice a year to raise money for various organisations. Bosom Buddies was selected as the organisation to receive the funds from the March 2006 Antiques Fair and we are pleased to accept more than $7,000.
