Although the main risk age group for breast cancer is between the ages of 50 and 70, an increasing number of younger women are being diagnosed. It is never too early to be breast aware. Since 1999, Bosom Buddies has given presentations to students in various schools as well as to community and business groups. Presentations have been made to View Clubs, Sporting Clubs, Breastfeeding Groups, and Federal Government Departments, including staff at Parliament House, the ACT Legislative Assembly, private firms and a foreign embassy.
Presentations are given by two of our trained volunteers.
- Hear a story from a breast cancer survivor and ask questions.
- Learn critical facts about breast cancer.
- Did you know 1 in 8 Australian women will have the disease in her lifetime?
- Did you know that more than 100 Australian men are diagnosed every year?
- Did you know the youngest woman in Canberra to be diagnosed was 18!
- Watch a DVD to help you to become more breast aware.
- Take home a Bosom Buddies guide to breast awareness.
- Receive material about local services and key sources of further information.
We would be delighted to come to your organisation to fully inform you of our program. For further information please contact Bosom Buddies on 0406 376 500 or email marilyn.brookes@bigpond.com.
