  • We will answer your questions or help you find the answers.
  • We will provide living examples of how to cope with the many facets of your treatment, your journey, your life and your feelings.
  • We will connect you with real people to talk with about surgery options, reconstructions, prostheses and the personal impacts of dealing with this disease.
  • We will take you to and from chemotherapy treatments or radiation treatments if you need.  We even have volunteers who will baby-sit while you are in day treatments, or even if you want an evening out.
  • We will share our stories, laugh, cry and provide a human touch when the books and procedures seem impersonal.
  • We will send a Buddy, trained by the Hospital, to visit you when you are in Calvary hospital. The Breast Care Nurses at Calvary hospital will arrange this for you.

A Patient...

" I found the Bosom Buddies number in some literature I was given.  They connected me with women who had had reconstruction and those converstations were invaluable in helping me make my own decisions.  When I look back, it was the laughter and confidence Bosom Buddies women gave me that really mattered.

Two of them called periodically to see how I was doing and answered my questions and concerns as they arose.  I had great support from family and friends, but these Buddies gave me something my supporters couldn't give me - shared experiences and great role models."

"A GP rang me because his patient was distraught with anxiety.  She was separated, had a young teenager and no other family in Australia.

I supported her journey with rides to and from treatments, phone conversations and visits.  I've gained a good friend."

"My doctor really had me scared that my situtation was serious and that I would need lots of treatment.  Then after a lumpectomy he told me I was fine and I didn't need further treatment.  I didn't understand and felt frightened and at a loss.

A friend told me about Bosom Buddies and the women I met gave me not just information -they also gave me encouragement and faith."
